Mario Rui spoke to Roma TV today after playing with Alberto De Rossi’s Primavera in their 4-1 victory and making his return from injury, here are his words:
“I felt really good out there today. I owe a special thank you to all these Primavera guys, Alberto De Rossi and his staff, plus of course all those who aren’t here today – the medical staff, my team-mates and the coaching staff. I felt like a kid playing his first match.”
“I’ve been training with them every day since I first came back. I’m really grateful to them because they gave me the chance to train and get back to match fitness. I won’t forget what the coach and some of these kids have done for me.”
“Mental hurdles? I must say I hadn’t tried any sliding tackles yet. When it came to it, I thought, ‘Let’s just see how it goes.’ My knee is fine and I feel good too. When I pulled off a tackle I realised I have nothing to fear.”
“Does my Roma tenure restart now? Yes, I think we can say that. I’m thrilled and the show of support from the Giallorossi fans has been amazing. Everyone has tried to pick me up and it’s really helped. I hope to start again stronger now.”
