The agent of Marko Arnautovic confirmed that Roma had made an offer for the Serbian attacker prior to his move to Inter.
Arnautovic had been linked with the capital club earlier in the summer. However, Bologna’s terms did not match Roma’s financial capabilities at that point in time.
Eventually Arnautovic decided to join Inter instead, while Roma focused on acquiring Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea.
In an interview with Sport and Talk from, Arnautovic’s brother and agent – Danijel – revealed Roma’s bid for the veteran striker was rejected by Bologna.
“We had already talked to two top Italian clubs, Inter wasn’t even on the radar at that moment and Bologna had already said no to Roma because they couldn’t find a replacement,” said Arnautovic.
“At one point, it seemed that Marko was going to stay, then I saw that the Nerazzurri needed a striker because, at that moment, they only had two in their squad and that’s not enough when you play in the Champions League. So I wrote to their sporting director telling him: “I know what you need and I have what you need.”
