Marseille remain interested in Steven Nzonzi

John Solano

Roma are still desperate to offload out-of-favor midfielder Steven Nzonzi, whose contract expires next June.

The Frenchman currently finds himself frozen out of the first team after the club informed him earlier this summer after his loan spell with Rennes expired.

For months Roma unsuccessfully attempted to persuade the veteran to accept a transfer elsewhere in order to save on his enormous wages. But despite knowing he has no place in the team, Nzonzi rejected multiple transfer offers this summer in favor of training individually and remaining in the Italian capital.

With his contract expiration quickly approaching, several clubs are lining up to try and sign the player for free. According to France Football, one of those clubs includes Ligue 1 giants Marseille, who already attempted to sign Nzonzi in the summer.
