Marseille, Strootman: “Roma made an approach, but Marseille didn’t find the offer sufficient”.

Former Roma and current Marseille midfielder Kevin Strootman was interviewed today by VTBL while on national team duty with the Netherlands.

The Dutchman confirmed the rumors that Roma did indeed make an approach for him in the summer, however, the offer of the Giallorossi fell short of the French club’s valuation.

“Offers came in but they weren’t good for the club. Then I talked to the manager who made it clear and told me he wanted my stay”.

He continued, “There were some things moving in Italy – and yes, Roma was one of the clubs. However, Marseille did not find the offer sufficient. If your club says that you’re no longer wanted and then your former club makes an approach for you – certainly it’s something you’ll think about. In the end, though, nothing was done.
