Mason Greenwood is set for a controversial return to football after almost two years of suspension.
The English attacker recently signed with Spanish club Getafe where he is expected to resume playing for the first time since 2021.
However, today’s edition of The Athletic offers insight into what went on behind the scenes before Greenwood decided to join Getafe on deadline day.
The news portal claims that Greenwood’s entourage had desperately tried to shop him around Italy, offering the player’s services to Roma and Milan.
The Giallorossi, similarly to Milan, immediately declined this option and showed no interest in the 21-year-old.
Lazio, on the other hand, engaged in talks to sign him but failed to do so due to technical limitations before the transfer deadline.
