Roma are back in league action on Saturday evening against Hellas Verona for Matchday 26 in Serie A.
The Giallorossi host the Venetian side at the Stadio Olimpico where they hope to break their three-match winless streak. Their last win came against Empoli on January 23rd when they defeated the Tuscans by a scoreline of 4-2.
The capital club will be without first-choice central defender Gianluca Mancini, who’s serving a one-match ban due to yellow card accumulation. However, starlet Nicolò Zaniolo returns and is expected to start following his own one-match suspension.
On the other side, Igor Tudor’s men enter the affair having won three of their previous four league clashes. Verona tallied 10 goals during this stretch—carried by former Roma product Gianluca Caprari, who’s having the best season of his career.
He’s obtained 9 goals and 6 assists to his name this season and is proving to be the perfect attacking partner alongside Giovanni Simeone.
“Roma are a difficult opponent. Their coach is the number one, their roster is good enough to compete for the Champions League or come close to that,” Tudor said during his pre-match press conference.
“I expect a difficult match, but it will also be motivating to face this kind of opponent. As a team we got off to a good start after the Christmas break, it was important to accelerate immediately and we did so in the best possible way.”
