Matías Viña called up by Uruguay for World Cup qualifiers

Andy Mattioli

Roma left-back Matías Viña has grown to become one of Mourinho’s key pieces in the opening to the season.

The 23-year-old was rested against CSKA Sofia and is now getting ready to step on the pitch at the Bentegodi against Hellas Verona.

Viña has now officially been called up for a consecutive time for international duty with Uruguay. The player, as it is the case with Jose Mourinho, is considered pivotal for the success of the national team by coach Oscar Tabarez.

The left-back is expected to feature in Uruguay’s World Cup qualifiers against Colombia, Argentina and Brazil in October.
