Yesterday, General Manager Tiago Pinto confirmed to the fans at Trigoria that Matías Viña is going to become a new Roma player. The Uruguayan has been identified as Spinazzola’s replacement for the start of the upcoming campaign.
The 23-year-old left-back of Palmeiras is expected to land in Rome to undergo his medical and join team training as soon as tomorrow. Both clubs are working to finalize the deal that should amount to €11 million plus €3 million in bonuses. Around 50% of the sale will go to Viña’s former club, Nacional de Montevideo.
The player released a brief statement to Corriere dello Sport:
“For me this is a dream coming true. Roma is a top club. It will be an honor to be coached by Mourinho.”
