RomaPress – Palmeiras defender Matías Viña is ready to join Roma after the two clubs finalised an agreement for the left back late yesterday.

The Giallorossi and the Brazilians were in negotiations throughout the past ten days and appeared to reach an agreement earlier in the week. The deal was even confirmed by Roma executive Tiago Pinto—who confirmed to a small group of supporters that the Uruguayan would be joining the club.

However, the Brazilians requested more time before finalising the transfer, preferring to have a replacement in place before allowing Viña to depart.

In addition, the two sides also ran into minor disagreements in regards to the payment structure of the operation.

Finally, though, after multiple delays, Palmeiras gave Viña and his agent, Fernando Neira, permission to fly to the Italian capital tonight so that the defender can undergo his medical examinations with the club.

The 23 year-old will land at Fiumicino airport just after 23.00 tonight on Air France flight AF1004. He will undergo his medical tomorrow at Villa Stuart before putting pen to paper on his Roma contract.
