Roma and Matias Vina were reportedly on the verge of parting ways earlier in the week with the Uruguayan fullback eyeing a transfer to Turkey.

As reported in today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, Vina had been very close to joining Galatasaray form Roma late in the Turkish transfer window which ended last night.

The 24-year-old’s transfer had been negotiated very fast, with Roma ready to let Vina leave to find more consistent playing time.

However, the Italian newspaper reports that Vina’s switch to Galatasaray experienced a last minute collapse due to timing issues that prevented the clubs from resolving bureaucratic matters before the transfer deadline.

Negotiations could continue in January as Jose Mourinho has already endorsed Vina’s departure.
