After sustaining a knock to his thigh in Uruguay’s match against Peru on Friday, Roma left-back Matías Viña underwent a first series of tests to assess the extent of the injury.
According to Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo, the tests did not reveal any serious damage to the thigh muscle.
Further tests will be carried out going forward, but a return to the capital for Matías Viña is not likely to happen until Uruguay’s last match for the World Cup Qualifiers against Ecuador.
The player could still feature for his national team.
