Maurizio Sarri mocks Roma’s fanbase

Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri mocked Roma’s fanbase during his press conference earlier today.

On the eve of Lazio’s last match of the Champions League group-stage with Atletico Madrid, Sarri pointed to the difference between Lazio and Roma’s fanbase, claiming the Giallorossi supporters are easier to satisfy than their Biancocelesti rivals.

“We performed a miracle in going to the round of 16. The comparison with Atletico doesn’t hold up, they are in a different category than us. We’ll play the match anyway,” said the ex-Juve boss.

“The Lazio environment is devastating, but not at club level, where things are great. But everything that happens outside, around the club… expectations are created which are then unattainable even for those who set them up. This creates frustration.”

“There is a perennial sense of dissatisfaction, we are coming off 3 wins and 1 draw, if Roma had the same track record there’d be fireworks. It’s not natural for us to go to the round of 16, in the 2000s it happened twice,” said Sarri, as reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi.
