Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri celebrated his 65th birthday with a narrow win in the Derby della Capitale against Mourinho’s Roma.
After the match, the Tuscan manager expressed his satisfaction with his side’s performance.
“Tonight all I care about is the performance which I am satisfied with,” he told reporters. “I didn’t care about qualifying to the next round, it was the last thing on my mind. All I wanted was to win the derby.”
“When you play a derby you have to play for the people, the ones who live with you every day. You have to play for them. It gives us satisfaction to give satisfaction to them.”
“Spending my birthday after losing the derby would have been tough. We were tired after Udine, it was clear. But at the moment my satisfaction is that there is a lot of energy in the locker room, whoever you call into question responds positively.”
“The penalty? The penalty is clear in the images I saw, a fairly clear shot. Orsato remained at the Var for 8 seconds. It’s pretty evident that there was a foul.”
