Mauro Icardi on Roma’s radar

With Dzeko’s future still uncertain, despite the reassurances of Tiago Pinto made a few days ago regarding the Bosnian’s importance to the team, Roma are keeping an eye out for available alternatives on the market. Among others, including Torino’s Andrea Belotti and Stuttgart’s Saša Kalajdžić, is Mauro Icardi.

Already linked with a move to Roma back in 2019 – when he was excluded from the Inter squad by then Inter manager Luciano Spalletti – the Argentinian striker is one of the names on Roma’s shopping wish list. The player does not fit Pochettino’s plans at PSG and may be looking for a new destination.

La Repubblica report Roma may consider opening talks with the player’s entourage only if a concrete offer were to arrive for Edin Dzeko. The Bosnian number 9 has been linked to Juventus, with Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri being a big fan of his and has drawn interest from England and Turkey. However, no bids have been made for Dzeko as of today.

PSG are looking to shop Icardi on loan with an option to buy at €40 million or a two-year loan with an obligation. Icardi has already expressed his willingness to return to Italy and is even determined to reduce his current salary down to €8 million + €2 million in bonuses. Roma may be one of the better suited candidates for the former Inter striker.
