Mauro Leo named Roma’s new sporting director

For administrative purposes, Mauro Leo has been named the capital club’s new sporting director following Morgan De Sanctis’ decision to join Salernitana a few weeks ago, reports Il Tempo.

After De Sanctis’ departure, Lega Calcio demanded of Roma to insert a name for the formal position of sporting director – thus the decision to appoint Leo.

Leo was Roma’s head scout and will continue to work under the leadership of Tiago Pinto who will maintain his role as General Manager.

According to the Italian newspaper, Leo will be in charge of handling Roma’s loanees, but his role will be a collaborative one with Pinto who remains the club’s top director.
