Roma striker Borja Mayoral could be on his way out when the transfer window reopens in January.
The ex-Levante attacker has seen a significant reduction in playing time under manager José Mourinho despite having the best season of his career last year.
According to Florence-based newspaper La Nazione, the Spaniard is frustrated with his role and desperately wants to leave the club in January. While he’s open to various destinations, Mayoral has reportedly confided in family and friends that his preference would be to join Fiorentina.
The striker and his former Real Madrid teammate Álvaro Odriozola, who’s at Fiorentina on loan, have exchanged messages about the club and the possibility of teaming up in Tuscany.
Although Mayoral’s departure in January seems certain, more work is required. His parent club, Real Madrid, won’t discuss a loan deal and only want to sell him permanently for €15 million.
