Roma held a double press conference today to unveil newly acquired signings Mert Cetin and Davide Zappacosta. These are their words:
What does Roma represent right now for you?
It has always been a dream, I always wanted to be here. You’ll get to know me and you’ll be able to see my worth on the pitch.
What did Ünder tell you about Roma? How much can he help you in your growth?
I already talked to him about Roma before arriving here. He told me how big and important the club was. He can help me until I can speak Italian, he is a Turkish brother and he is important. We will help each other a lot both on and off the pitch.
Can you describe your characteristics a bit? You said you are inspired by Sergio Ramos.
Sergio Ramos is my idol, but my name is Mert Cetin. I believe that in a couple of years I will be able to make my own name. I am a tough and aggressive player. For me, Ramos is definitely an idol.
What do you need to work on?
My strengths are speed and starting from the back. There are so many things I need to improve, the Italian league is one of the best because it allows a player to grow a lot. I think that I have great potential and I would like to try to prove it.
Petrachi said you matured. What do you feel changed?
The director is right, I feel more mature from a character and human level. It was an experience that gave me a lot, it is not easy to play outside of Italy, in a league that is almost the opposite of the Italian one. It helped me so much because I went through difficult moments and I am convinced that it gave me so much.
Are you ready for Roma-Genoa?
I feel good, we trained at a high intensity. I feel good physically. I haven’t played for some time so I need to get back up to pace, but I am convinced that with these training sessions it will not take long to get back in shape and be able to play as soon as possible.
Is your minimum goal entry into the Champions League with Roma?
I arrived at Roma because I wanted to leave and Roma has always been a great club. I really want to forge an important path with Roma, but we have to think match by match. The Serie A is a difficult league: we can only be satisfied by taking this approach.
