Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani declared himself ‘optimistic’ ahead of the upcoming return leg with Roma in the Europa League quarterfinals.

The Italian executive previewed the Rossoneri’s upcoming engagements in Europe and Serie, including the Derby with Inter, in a recent interview with DAZN.

“A key week for us both my perspective as a fan and as an executive of the club. We’re optimistic for the upcoming two games which are very important,” said Furlani.

“Since the beginning of the season, criticism of the coach has been raging after every match that we’ve failed to win. This year Pioli has done well and we are focused on the season finale.”

“You can’t judge a coach based on one match, but you can evaluate him on an entire season. We’ll see how he ends the season, but we’re confident. We are doing well compared to last year, we are 12 points ahead of a year ago, it’s a shame that we dropped the Champions League, but the group was difficult.”

“Against Newcastle we were unlucky, against Borussia Dortmund in the second leg we were affected by injuries. The Champions League is a regret, but we will do everything to do better next year.”
