Milan manager Stefano Pioli reacted to his side’s win over Roma in tonight’s Olimpico showdown.

The Italian technician praised his men for their performance following an impressive 2-1 victory in ten men.

“It’s an important victory,” he told DAZN. “We put in a great performance even though we suffered in the final stages of the match.”

“I wanted to make the changes sooner but I didn’t have enough time. I think this is the perfect way to start the season even though it wasn’t simple,” he added.

“I wasn’t afraid of Roma coming back from 2-0 because I saw my team maintain their position on the pitch despite suffering a bit. We can improve but we started the league campaign very well. I’m satisfied.”
