Daniele De Rossi wants to involve Mile Svilar more in Roma’s action.
The Serbian goal-keeper has been increasingly relied upon as a key passer for the team in their construction from the back during Roma’s first three friendlies of the summer.
According to Corriere della Sera, this is not a coincidence or merely a temporary solution: De Rossi is determined to make Svilar a focal point of Roma’s movement on the pitch.
This explains why Svilar touches a lot of balls so far under De Rossi: his teammates are obliged (tactically) to start from him if there are no credible alternatives.
It is not a question of backward steps as an easy solution in case of danger, but the continuous search for a reasoned and patient construction the back.
This, moreover, allows the team to raise the defense line, and therefore distance the opponents from the penalty area.
