Mkhitaryan before the start of Spal-Roma: “Next year we’ll do better”.

John Solano

Roma attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan was interviewed by Roma TV before the start of the Giallorossi’s league clash against Spal this evening. Here’s what the Armenian had to say just before kick-off:

How would you judge your season?
Despite the injuries I’ve had to deal, I’d say it’s been a positive season. Unfortunately, these things happens and I’m disappointed that I missed so many matches, but it wasn’t an issue. I managed to get back into shape and I played better. I feel good and hope to continue like this.

What do you think next season holds for Roma?
We will improve our position (in the table) next year, I am certain. We have a squad mixed with both young and experienced players, we’ve got the right mix. We can help the younger players with our experience and teach them some things both on and off of the pitch.

What about the manager? How would you judge Fonseca’s first season?
The manager knows who to play each match. The club is doing everything possible to reach the top. We wanted to finish in the top four this season and win the Coppa Italia, but now we must focus on winning the Europa League. We’ll be more prepared next season. Fonseca’s ideas and philosophy were new to all of us. You can’t achieve everything in year one, I hope we do better next year.
