Henrikh Mkhitaryan appears close to signing a new contract with Roma, which will see him remain in the Italian capital.
There was speculation that the former Borussia Dortmund man could depart this summer because of his contract expiring next month plus the impending arrival of manager José Mourinho.
However, Alfredo Pedullà of SportItalia has reported that a meeting has been scheduled between the club and Mkhitaryan in compliance with an option built into his current deal, which gives him the ability to exercise a one-year contract renewal.
In addition, Mkhitaryan’s entourage has already touched down in Rome in anticipation of this meeting, with all signs pointing to the two sides close to an agreement.
It would be a big boost for Roma given that Mkhitaryan led the team with fifteen goals and thirteen assists in all competitions this season.
