Mkhitaryan: “From day one, I’ve felt the appreciation of both Roma and the supporters”.

John Solano

Roma’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan was interviewed today by Vivaro News and discussed a variety of topics — including his summer move to the Giallorossi.

Let’s discuss the transfer from Arsenal to Roma.
They made promises to me at the beginning of the season, but after just two weeks – those promises weren’t kept. So when Mino Raiola called me to propose the idea of joining Roma, I didn’t think twice. There’s been no regrets (about joining Roma). From day one, I felt the appreciation of the supporters and the club. I really like the Romans.

What about the Serie A?
When I was a little boy, I used to watch Italian football. Italy is always Italy and it is time for this league to move forward. Many strong and well-known players are moving to Serie A because they understand that football is developing. That’s not to say it’s a lower league, on the contrary: in my first match against Sassuolo, I was really surprised at the intensity that the two teams put forth on the pitch, all the players were strong both physically and technically.

Fonseca?
I was impressed when I saw his team play in the Champions League. His Shakhtar played very fluidly against big teams like Manchester City and even Roma. I got to understand his football better once I arrived and I’m sure great results will come with him.

The objectives of this season are…
We must finish in the top four and certainly we’ll do all we can in the Europa League. It is very important for the team to play the Champions League next year.

What is Lazio to you?
The second team of the capital.
