Mkhitaryan: “I want to stay at Roma longer, but it’s not up to me”.

Roma attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan appeared on the Fútbol Podcast with Grant Wahl and discussed his future, the resumption of Serie A, and more.

“The resumption of Serie A? For us players it’s a bit unusual, we don’t know what will happen. We don’t know how we’ll react or play but we’re looking forward,” the Armenian said.

“We’re hungry and we want to play and get back to normal. Of course it won’t be the same as it was before. We have to move forward”.

He continued, “I think speaking Italian was important for me both on and off the pitch. Of course, I don’t know how long I’ll stay here: I like the country, I like Roma the club, and I wish to stay here longer. It’s up not up to me, but I’m trying my best to keep improving on my Italian”.

“We’ll see what happens next. I think the club and the philosophy of the manager suits me. I’m happy to play this kind of football, I enjoy it”.

“The Champions League? It’s in our hands. We have the capacity and ability to finish in the top four – we can do it. There’s twelve matches left and we have to get as many points as we can”.

“Of course, this was our objective at the beginning of the season. It’s tough, everyone is fighting for the top four, but I think everything is possible”.

“My future? Of course I want to be at Roma for next season and not only next season — perhaps for a few years. I still have a contract with Arsenal, it’s not up to me. Roma and Arsenal must find an agreement.

“I’m focused on training and playing hard. If I don’t remain at Roma I will have to return to Arsenal so I’m not complaining. Your life in football changes so quickly”.
