Henrikh Mkhitaryan has become one of Mourinho’s most reliable players, leading the team by example, with the Special One even admitting after last night’s draw at the Dacia Arena: “I missed Mkhitaryan a lot today.”
The Armenian attacker – who has now rediscovered his form in a new position in the midfield – is reportedly nearing a much wanted contract extension with the Giallorossi after bidding farewell to the national team earlier in the month.
According to calciomercato.com, during the upcoming international break Mkhitaryan will remain in the capital in order to discuss the details to his renewal.
The veteran’s considerable salary of €4 million would be lowered and spread across two more years.
The player had been drawing interest from Russia, but now seems intent on extending his stay in the capital at the disposal of Jose Mourinho.
General Manager Tiago Pinto is expected to meet with Mkhitaryan’s entourage soon and finalize the details of the deal.
