Monchi eyeing fullbacks in Spain and England

Corriere dello Sport (D’Ubaldo): Monchi continues to monitor the transfer market for January. And he has his eyes on a fullback to gift to Di Francesco.

IN SPAIN – The reinforcement will come from abroad and Monchi has, in particular, been investigating the Spanish market. An interesting opportunity is that for Aleix Vidal, right back of Barcelona. He is twenty-eight years old, and last year he injured his ankle and this season he has struggled to find space, making only five appearances in the league and a one-minute stint in the Champions League. In the past, Milan and Juve were even interested in him. He is a wide man that can play both in defence and attack. Another name from Spain is Vrsaljko of Atletico Madrid, an old jewel of Di Francesco, who had him at Sassuolo. He is also not finding continuity this season. The Croatian is twenty-five years old and has even played less than Vidal: three league appearances, plus one in the Champions League. Napoli are also interested and see him as Ghoulam’s substitute.

IN ENGLAND – Two other profiles taken into account by Monchi would represent two “returns”. One is Davide Zappacosta, who is twenty-five years old and with Chelsea and formerly of Torino, he is also finding little space with Conte. The same can be said for twenty-seven year old Matteo Darmian, who was approached by Roma in the past.
