Monchi on the Champions League draw, objectives, and more

Roma sporting director Monchi was interviewed today by Cadena Ser. These are his words:

The draw.
You can’t say it’s lucky considering we’ve been drawn against the best team in the world and the reigning champions. CSKA Moscow and Viktoria Plzen also present some dangerous, starting with the trips away from home. We will all be motivated by being in the same group as Real. It could have been a better group, but you have to play it. Last year we had important experience and we intend to do well again this year.

Would you sign up for the second position?
No, I am ambitious by nature and we must not give up anything. We must try to get as many points as possible and try to pass the round.

Malcom?
It’s all calm now – this is how the market moves sometimes. You can’t stop and rest on your laurels. I’ve been a sporting director for twenty years and there have always been similar circumstances. Sometimes I’ve been on the other end and have taken advantage of certain situations, it’s part of the game. I greeted all of Barca’s directors yesterday just like normal.

The objectives this season?
We want to try to fight on all fronts and get to fighting again for something in March and April. The goal is not to disappoint the supporters and to make people believe that this Roma can do something important and get closer and closer to success.
