Monchi presents Moreno

Roma sporting director Monchi spoke today at a press conference to present defender Hector Moreno, here is an excerpt of their words:

Monchi: “We are here to present Hector, he was the first purchase that I have made as sporting director of Roma. He’s a player I’ve followed for a long time, ever since I was at Sevilla. I have wanted him with me and finally the circumstances and conditions for this to happen were realized and I’m happy for this.”

“Mahrez? To start from from the end. My method of working is to think of various possibilities, not just one name, it seems a little more logical to me. Some of these options have been made public, such as Mahrez, others are not known. We have presented two offers, the second of which is the right offer for us and then we have put things on hold. We are also working on other options now. Percentages? I do not know, there is no meter for this. Mahrez is one of the options, he is not the only one, after the last offer we are shifting towards other options.”

“Manolas? He is a Roma player right now and I think he will continue to be at the club for a long time. On his renewal, I do not know if you have any information different than mine, but it turns out that Manolas is happy to be at Roma. Another defender? The priority right now is a right winger. Kolarov can also play as a central defender. We have had a good transfer market, we do not have to be hasty. There will be 20-25 days to decide which area to reinforce.”

“Do I feel the pressure to do better than Sabatini or win the Scudetto? No one puts more pressure on myself than I. I’m here in Rome for this (to win). Sabatini is a person I admire. There is no one who puts more pressure on Monchi more than Monchi himself.”

Moreno: “I am doing well so far. I’m happy to be at a big club and share the dressing room with such important teammates. I have gotten on very good with everyone, Manolas, Fazio, Juan Jesus and Castan. I feel perfectly at ease. My role? I’m glad to play wherever I am needed. Obviously I prefer to play as a central defender, but I am available to play as a left back.”

“Which teammate has impressed me the most? I already knew of him because I followed him both at Roma and in the national team, so I would say De Rossi. He is an experienced footballer and is always working hard, trying to help his teammates and improving himself, he is really an example to follow.”
