Monchi’s future called into question

John Solano

Monchi spent the days immediately following the collapse against Milan in Venezia, a place for relaxing. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Spaniard’s adventure in Rome has come into question and certainly taken a turn. The newspaper claims that the fans’ anger towards the transfer market – one where they believe it was necessary to add a few pieces to last year’s squad to make the team even more competitive – has embittered Monchi. The three huge sales of Nainggolan, Alisson, and Strootman (one that can be justified except for the timing) have hurt the supporters. Monchi believes that this team is strong and has called for patience – however, he would be ready to quit Roma after 17 months if things do not go well as Barcelona and Manchester United remain interested.
