Paulo Dybala had been linked with newly promoted Serie A Monza, owned by former Milan president Silvio Berlusconi.

Now, Adriano Galliani – the team’s sporting director – revealed how the Argentine turned them down before joining Roma.

During the event Festival dello Sport, Galliani was reported saying, “The player we insisted on pursuing was Dybala: I wanted him strongly at Monza, but the Argentine never gave us any opening signs.”

“I spoke to his agent, but the footballer wanted a team of a different caliber than Monza.”
