Monza’s Andrea Ranocchia injures ankle, may miss Roma clash

RomaPress Staff

It went from bad to worse for newly promoted Monza during their league affair against Napoli this evening in Campania.

The Biancorossi were humiliated 4-0 by Luciano Spalletti’s side, who ran riot over the visitors registering 22 shots in the process.

To make matters worse, veteran defender Andrea Ranocchia could be out for a prolonged period of time after suffering an ankle injury.

Just three minutes into the first half, the former Inter man was stretchered off after his right ankle got caught in the Stadio Diego Armanda Maradona’s playing surface.

At full-time, manager Giovanni Stroppa confessed the injury might be serious, casting doubt on Ranocchia’s availability when Monza face Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on August 30th.

“I just spoke to Ranocchia and he thinks it’s a pretty serious injury,” he told DAZN.

“Either tonight or tomorrow he’ll undergo all of the necessary medical examinations and scans but his ankle got caught underneath him. It wasn’t pretty.”
