Monza executive Francois Modesto is reportedly the top name on Roma’s list for the sporting director vacancy.

The capital club are in fact finalizing the appointment of Tiago Pinto’s successor after the Portuguese GM left Roma last month.

Despite numerous links with candidates from abroad – more recently Bournemouth’s Hughes was mentioned as an option for the Giallorossi – Roma seem the most keen on Monza technical director Francois Modesto.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Modesto is the leading candidate for the job also given his previous working experience with Roma CEO Lina Souloukou during their days at Olympiakos.

The newspaper suggests it is still not a done deal between Roma and Modesto, but the French executive is currently in pole position to land the big job in the Italian capital.
