More Stadio della Roma delays after dispute between the city of Rome and the region of Lazio

Roma were dealt a blow over the last 24-hours for the final approval of the Stadio della Roma.

The club was hoping to receive the definitive “OK” for their stadium project within the coming weeks, however, it now appears that the green light to begin construction won’t arrive until after the New Year.

The region of Lazio revealed late yesterday that certain conditions for the project have still not been met between the region and the city of Rome.

The region claims that Rome and mayor Virginia Raggi have yet to provide the correct documents that they requested via email on the 5th of August — when they asked for further documentation on a resolution regarding the transport hub portion of the project.

The delay essentially means that the bureaucratic process to finalise the project will extend into 2021, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
