Roma manager Jose Mourinho was ecstatic following his team’s 3-0 victory over Lazio this evening in the Derby della Capitale.
The Giallorossi were propelled by three first half goals from Tammy Abraham and Lorenzo Pellegrini—a thorough dismantling of their arch rivals and an important victory in their quest for a top four finish.
“What a great performance. Tonight was special because the players seemed to put into practice everything we planned for,” he told DAZN.
“The credit goes all to the players, it’s very deserved. Lazio were looking to flip the result in the second half but were still in control. There is no doubt the boys deserved the victory.”
“Abraham? See I know his strength—I’m not just talking about his goals but did you see what he did tonight in recovering the ball and securing possession for us? He didn’t do that against Vitesse.”
He continued, “I demand a lot from him because I know his potential. I’m not strictly discussing his goals because needs to always display the attitude.”
“As for the top four, I don’t think any of the top four will drop down to fifth. There are four teams fighting for the places from fifth to eighth, us, Atalanta, Lazio and Fiorentina.”
Adding, “The potential is different from the four teams in the first places. Finishing fifth or eighth has a difference, let’s see if we can finish well in the league.”
