José Mourinho did not sound discouraged after his side saw their unbeaten league run end at the San Siro earlier tonight.
“First of all they are too good,” Mourinho told DAZN. “Inter are the best team in the league. With strong players in all respects.”
“To win against them or win when they are in trouble, you have to be absolutely perfect. We weren’t perfect, we were good. We had a great goal ball from Mancini on 0-0, 10 seconds later they score against us.”
“We were good but we had a void of confidence and concentration at the end of the first half,” he said.
When asked about how to reduce the gap between Roma and Inter, the Special One replied, “We’ve had little time, work, little growth of players involved. Zalewski has so much quality but he is still a kid who makes mistakes.”
“There are teams like Inter who pay to have Gosens on the bench, we don’t that privilege but we work with Zalewski to improve him, we are talking about an isolated example.”
“I think Roma are more of a team than 3 months ago at all levels, our gameplan today was very positive.”
“We tried to create strategic situations, but they are good. Their defenders are good, on the flanks they are physically strong. I have a very good team, I am happy with it. If we hadn’t faced Inter today but another team we would have won.”
