José Mourinho spoke to the club’s official channels ahead of the long-awaited first leg of the Conference League semifinal at King Powers Stadium.
“When you get to the semi-final you think you have 50% chance of reaching the final and 25% chance of winning the competition.”
“When you get to the final you have the same dream and the same motivation as your opponent,” he continued.
“We must not hide, we play against a team from the best league in Europe. They have two Champions League semi-finalists and one Europa League semi-finalist.”
“They have good players, a capable coach but we are good, too. We intend to get to the second leg with a full stadium and with the chance to play in the final.”
“We are more of a team now,” said Mourinho of his side’s recent development.
“I don’t think the defeat against Inter can stop our confidence and our game. As I said, the result was similar to the 2-0 in the Coppa Italia but we had unparallelled control of the game, stability and quality. The result could have been different.”
“Leicester have qualities but we are aware of our own means.”
“We want to achieve a goal that the team and staff deserve. And the ones who deserve it more than anybody are the fans.”
“We go there with the intention of taking something we deserve. In football it can happen to lose even if you don’t deserve it. We have to get to the final.”
