Roma manager Jose Mourinho analyzed his side’s 3-1 win over Udinese.
After a difficult start, the Giallorossi were able to pull off a victory in the final 10 minutes of the match.
Mourinho discussed various talking points with regards to his team’s performance.
“It was an easy game to close out,” Mourinho told DAZN after the match. “But we didn’t do it and we opened the door to the opponent. Luckily and thanks to us, the reaction was very strong, the bench today had players who could help and I didn’t mess anything up.”
“We saw a strong response on the pitch. It seems like we like to attack under the Curva Sud and break records of goals and points in the last minute. When you have an opponent in difficulty you have to go for the jugular and close it, we didn’t do that.”
“I celebrated the goal that ended the match. With the changes we lost defensive organisation. When we scored at the 85th there were 10 minutes left to play and we had to suffer.”
“Dybala and Azmoun together? The nature of Paulo and Azmoun is not defensive so it would be unbalanced to have both of them play at the same time regularly. Azmoun is still a player that I love but he lacks a little something to be a Mourinho player in defensive transition. He has crazy qualities. I also had Belotti and Aouar on the bench: we have good options off the bench.”
“We are still a team with ups and downs. Sometimes I’m surprised in a negative way. If Renato comes back in the next few days and Smalling comes back stronger in January we’ll see what we’re really made of.”
