Tammy Abraham has returned to being a key player for the Giallorossi, contributing to almost every single game played in the New Year, after a significantly slow start to this year’s campaign: so far, Abraham recorded 2 goals and 2 assists in the four opening matches of 2023.
Jose Mourinho was asked about the Englishman’s improvements and how the Special One helped him during the international break.
“From my personal point of view I didn’t do much,” Mourinho told reporters in last night’s presser at fulltime of Spezia-Roma. “We tried to objectively analyze the workouts, his work on the pitch, the intensity behind it, and tried to change the details every day,” he added.
“The credit goes to him and also to the team that plays better as a whole. We really like to focus on a badly performing player, but today it was difficult for one of our players to play badly because the team was great. The team is better off now, if Abraham doesn’t score he still finds ways to contribute, whereas before if he didn’t score he didn’t even contribute.”
“My only wish is for him to continue working well with the team, then if he scores, that’s fantastic,” Mourinho concluded.
