Jose Mourinho praised his squad for the mentality they displayed against Bologna in their 0-0 away draw this evening.
Playing without several key names, the Giallorossi were the more dangerous of the two sides and will lament not leaving Romagna with all three points in hand after wasting several goalscoring chances.
“Whether we have someone from the Primavera or a player from our women’s team playing, the team’s mentality doesn’t change,” stated Mourinho during a post-match interview on DAZN.
“The qualities may change, but not the basic principles. I’m very proud of this match. We had several new players like Svilar, Missori, and Tahirovic starting yet it was still a good display.”
“Our top four hopes? The supporters have to hear me: when we were second or third in the table, I kept saying we must take things one game at a time because we didn’t have the depth to go all the way in two competitions.”
He continued, “We never made any decisions one way or the other, we took things as they came one game at a time. I’ve been saying this for two or three months.”
“Does our season hinge on Thursday? We’ve had a fantastic campaign. We can analyse the result afterwards but we could win or lose (against Bayer Leverkusen), finish fourth or seventh in the league but it’s a season where the lads reached their limit.”
