With just over 48-hours remaining until Roma return to the pitch, speculation surrounding Nicolo Zaniolo’s club future has skyrocketed.
Late this afternoon, the club confirmed to several media outlets, including RomaPress, that Zaniolo won’t be included in Sunday’s squad to face Spezia—a decision taken directly by the player amidst his desire to exit before the end of the month.
Zaniolo’s decision, however, came as a surprise to everyone at the club. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mourinho and General Manager Tiago Pinto were left baffled by the 23-year-old’s request to stay out on Sunday.
Although the club still hasn’t received a concrete offer for the ex-Inter man, negotiations are expected to ramp up over the coming days.
