Former Roma manager Jose Mourinho expressed his satisfaction at Caglar Soyuncu’s return to Fenerbahce.

One of Mourinho’s first requests at Fenerbahce was to keep Soyuncu whose initial loan deal was finally made permanent a few days ago.

The Special One spoke about Soyuncu’s importance to his new team and shared insight into his attempt at trying to sign the Turkish centreback already during his years at Roma.

“I am very happy for Soyuncu’s stay. I thank the president for the effort made because he was one of the players I wanted to keep.”

“Soyuncu has great quality for a central defender,” he added. “Before coming here to Fenerbahce, I was interested in him when I was at Roma, I wanted to buy him, but it wasn’t possible,” Mourinho told AS.
