Mourinho disappointed with fans booing Zaniolo

Jose Mourinho expressed his disappointment at the fans’ decision to boo Zaniolo upon his substitution in the second half in last night’s victory over Genoa at Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

The Special One remarked in his post-match press conference, “I’m disappointed to hear fans whistle and boo Zaniolo.”

“One of the things that makes me proud is the attendance at the Olimpico which is always sold out, I am very pleased even if it is not my because of me. Over time we’ve managed to establish a sense of empathy between the fans and the team, and as a group we always give our best and I’m sorry to have heard some booing for Zaniolo.”

“Why? He is a great example of a guy who gives his best. Always, no matter what. I learned as a kid that if you give your best, that’s all that matters. Zaniolo gives everything he has.”

“My history at the club is brief, but people listen to me. I say that they can boo the team, the coach, the result but not the individual player. I’m sorry for Zaniolo.”
