Following Roma’s victory over Genoa in the Coppa Italia earlier tonight, Jose Mourinho finally took the time to address the rumors of Portugal’s interest in him as their next manager and his subsequent decision to turn down their approach.
“Today I can talk to you and I’ll say something that maybe doesn’t interest you much, but I want to thank the president of the Portuguese federation,” Mourinho remarked in his post-match press conference.
“What he told me made me very proud. To say that I was his only choice and that he would do anything to take me home pleased me very much. I didn’t go though, I’m here and I give my best for Roma.”
