Roma boss Jose Mourinho discussed Evan Ndicka’s first official match with the Giallorossi after his performance in the win over Empoli.
In his post-match press conference, Mourinho specifically singled out Evan Ndicka whose debut came at the right time given Chris Smalling’s injury.
“Evan is not a kid who hasn’t played any games in his career: he has 150 games in the Bundesliga, in a team that played with three defenders at the back but not similar to our system.”
“I don’t want to reveal the exact details, because I don’t want to give them away to the enemy, but in the first half when he was in front of me I struggled a bit with him because he has to be guided. He has presence due to his physique, he has good footwork, he is fast, he is a quality player.”
“With these three central defenders and with Smalling we have four different, but quality, central defenders. When one is missing we only have three, but they are reliable players.”
