As José Mourinho’s first full year at Roma winds to a close, both he and club executive Tiago Pinto expect the team to take a big step forward next season.
After overhauling much of squad throughout the season, Roma’s upcoming summer transfer market objective is to build upon the strong foundation built by the Special One in his first campaign. As a result, the club is expected to focus on revolutionising the midfield to find players better suited to Mourinho’s tactical style.
Corriere della Sera reports that current midfield trio Bryan Cristante, Jordan Veretout, and Amadou Diawara are all widely predicted to be sold this summer with Roma eyeing players with different characteristics.
The newspaper claims both Cristante and Veretout have strong markets with several clubs interested in their services including Inter, Milan, and Sevilla. Pinto hopes to offload the Italian international for a figure between €20-25 million while asking €18 million for the Frenchman.
However, finding a buyer for Amadou Diawara could prove challenging. The Giallorossi tried unsuccessfully tried to sell the former Napoli in the previous two transfer windows but couldn’t find a club willing to meet their asking price.
