José Mourinho was in tears after he guided Roma to a historic win of the first edition of the Conference League final in Tirana, helping the club reach their first European title in 50 years.
The Portuguese technician addressed his emotional state in the post-match interview with Sky Sport.
“There’s so many things racing inside my head right now,” said the Special One.
“I told the boys that with Torino we had done what we had to, that it was strictly business.”
“However, tonight it wasn’t work, but history: making or not making it. And we made it.”
When asked about the future, Mourinho clarified once and for all, “I’m staying at Roma, there’s no doubt about it.”
“Even if there are rumours, I don’t care. I don’t want rumours. I want to stay in Rome.”
We need to understand what our owners want to do, who are very honest, for next season. We can follow up on this project, we just have to understand the next steps to define a direction for next season.”
“It’s one thing to win when everyone expects it and another is to win when things remain immortal and forever.”
“This makes you feel special. I’m not saying I don’t think of myself, but I think above all of the Romanisti who celebrate today, I hope they are waiting for us at home. This stays forever, I’m really happy for our boys and the Roma family.”
