As the World Cup break edges closer, Roma have only four games remaining in their schedule: three league matches and Thursday’s crucial Europea League affair which will determine whether the Giallorossi will continue their journey in the European competition.
As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the capital club have improved their league record compared to last year. After 12 league matchdays, Roma are sitting fourth with 25 points in total, a significant improvement over last year’s 19 points.
The Giallorossi’s scoring struggles are quite evident, argues the Italian newspaper, as Mourinho’s men scored only 16 goals compared to last year’s 21 at this point in the season.
However, Roma tightened their defense and conceded less this time around: 11 goals vs last year’s 14.
The most encouraging aspect, however, remains Roma’s perseverance away from home. In fact, with last night’s victory at the Stadio Bentegodi in Verona, Mourinho has led the Giallorossi to their fifth consecutive away win for the first time since 2017.
