Jose Mourinho was able to celebrate the last match before the international break with a resounding victory in Sardinia.
The Portuguese technician led his side to a 4-1 win over Claudio Ranier’s Cagliari who have struggled since their return to Serie A.
As revealed by Mourinho after the match, the Roma boss offered Ranieri to join his team for the flight back to Rome – where Ranieri is expected to spend a few days off with his family before resuming training.
“Before the match I told their manager that if he wanted to come to Rome with us, it would have been my pleasure to have him on our flight,” Mourinho told reporters at full-time.
“Obviously he has a sense of professionalism and refused. He’s someone whom I like very much,” added Mourinho.
Ranieri and the Special One have been on excellent terms ever since the Portuguese technician showed support for Ranieri following his departure from Leicester City.
