Mourinho on Zaniolo: “The door is open for him to leave.”

Jose Mourinho spent a large amount of time in last night’s post-match press conference in providing reporters with a detailed outlook on the situation concerning Nicolo Zaniolo who recently asked to leave the club before the end of the January window.

“I’ve always had words of support for him,” the Special One said on Sunday night. “We have a good relationship, although with the fanbase it will be a different story, we’ll see.”

“From a legal point of view the door is open for him to leave. Anything can happen in football,” he added.

“We have a good relationship and every time I relied on him he gave everything to help the team, but I cannot call up someone who wants to leave and is thinking about other things. You cannot call up a player who tells you that he’s not able to help the team at this point in time.”
