Jose Mourinho has become the manager to include the most Primavera players in his regular squad rotations in the last ten years at Roma.
The Portuguese technician highlighted this aspect of his work at the club in his post-match presser following the final whistle to Roma-Fiorentina.
“The problem of many top clubs is that they don’t give their home-grown talents the opportunity to grow and develop. People now say that football is not sustainable for 90% of the clubs, but it becomes sustainable if you let the Primavera players play.”
“Bove started for the first time in Serie A this season, then Tahirovic came on who was with Primavera two months ago. These are things that big clubs don’t do, maybe they don’t need to or simply because my colleagues think differently. I am very pleased with the possibility of giving younger players a chance.”
